Baby Rhett – 1 Week Old!

 

Rhett’s first week of life was pretty typical of our first weeks with both Grace and JT….lots of family visitors and doctor’s visits for jaundice. 

We were released from the hospital on Wed., April 11th with his jaundice level at 9.2 and weighing 6 lb. 8 oz.  We had to go back to the doctor on Fri., April 13th (Friday the 13th), and his level had gone up to 20 and he weighed exactly 6 lb. 8 oz. again.  With jaundice levels that high, we got to enjoy the biliblanket!  (We had to do the same thing with JT.  Grace had jaundice as well, but her level was just under treatment.)  For two days he looked like a little, blue-glowing rocket man!  We had his levels checked again Sunday morning and it was on the decline!  Yay!

Baby Rhett – First Few Days…

 

Of course, we stayed in the hospital the first few days after Rhett was born.  We had lots of fun times with family and many visitors that we loved seeing!  Nothing too special here just posting some pictures for memory’s sake….

Getting Ready to Go Home – With John and I

Robert wasn’t able to come visit us in the hospital because he was working in Charleston.  So we got pics of him with Rhett when he came to visit on Friday.

 

I am missing a few pics that I cannot believe I didn’t get – Lauren and Addy also came to visit and I didn’t think the get pics.  All in all, the first few days went very smoothly – other than dealing with the jaundice!

Introducing Rhett Alan Lastinger….

 

God is so, so Good!!!  May I just say that this pregnancy might have been the most difficult yet, but this delivery was by far the easiest! 

I was induced on April 9th, 2012 (the day after Easter).  It took 10 tries to get my IV started that morning, but the good news was that was the hardest part of the entire day!  Labor started around 8:15 am when my water was broken.  I got an epidural at 10:07 am when I was around 6-7 cm.  (May I just say that I was able to actually enjoy an epidural by getting it a little earlier, and that thing is AMAZING!!!)  And Rhett was born at 11:52 am after pushing through four contractions!  (My parents and Grace hadn’t even made it to the hospital yet because none of us realized how fast it was going to happen!)

He’s here!!!  John was beside himself trying to check on me and the baby, take pictures, and text family who still thought they would be waiting a couple of hours!

 

Holding your baby for the first time is such an unbelievable experience.

We had to make sure Grace was the first one to hold him when the family came back!
